Planted in 1906 as a windbreak for mango and coconut trees along the shores of Kailua Beach, Hawaii, the ironwood trees faced the relentless effects of rising tides that slowly eroded the earth and sand beneath them.
To safeguard against potential harm, the City and County of Honolulu and the State of Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources made the difficult decision to cut down these trees. However, rather than letting these giant wood logs go to waste, they were diverted to B.C. FRaME Studio where Brian harnessed their natural beauty.
